CoinVerify Coin Testing Magnet Keyring
Compact • Powerful • Pocket-Sized • Made in the UK
A simple and convenient magnetic screening tool for gold and silver coins, designed to be carried on your keys or kept alongside your bullion testing equipment.
The CoinVerify keyring houses a strong large area magnet, providing a quick first-line test for detecting magnetic base metals that should not be present in many genuine precious-metal bullion coins.
Simply hold or hover the magnet close to the coin and observe its reaction. Strong attraction or sticking can be an immediate warning sign that the coin contains magnetic material inconsistent with its expected composition.
Ideal for:
✓ Gold & silver bullion collectors
✓ Coin dealers and resellers
✓ Bullion investors
✓ Coin fairs and markets
✓ Quick checks when buying coins
Why use a magnet test?
Gold and silver themselves are not strongly attracted to a magnet, while many inexpensive metals used in counterfeit coins are.
This makes a strong magnet a useful and extremely quick screening tool when examining an unfamiliar coin.
The compact CoinVerify housing makes the magnet easy to carry and comfortable to handle, while helping prevent the powerful magnet from being misplaced amongst your coin equipment.
How to use
Bring the CoinVerify magnet slowly towards the coin without allowing it to strike the surface.
If the coin is strongly attracted to the magnet or sticks to it, this may indicate the presence of an unexpected magnetic metal and the coin should be investigated further.
For best results, use the magnet test alongside our dedicated coin tester tools.
Important
A magnet test cannot confirm that a coin is genuine or determine its precious-metal purity. Some counterfeit materials are also non-magnetic, while certain genuine coins or alloys may exhibit different magnetic behaviour.
Any suspicious or inconclusive coin should be referred for further professional examination, such as XRF testing.
