Double & Quintuple Gold Sovereign Tester Tool Kit

CoinVerify Double & Five Sovereign Gold Coin Tester Tool Kit

+ + + Now with a large, strong rare earth magnet, compact case, microscopic tolerances and illustrated instruction card. + + +

Thanks for looking at my listing! I created CoinVerify to make practical bullion coin testing affordable and accessible to everyday collectors. Professional testing equipment can cost £1,000+, with XRF systems considerably more, while even original Victorian Sovereign testers, which were once the gold standard, can now cost well over £100.

CoinVerify takes those time-tested principles and puts them into a modern, compact and affordable screening tool for collectors around the world.

The CoinVerify Gold Sovereign Tester Tool — an effective, precision-made tool designed to help collectors, investors and dealers quickly screen double and quintuple British Gold Sovereigns against their expected physical specifications for the expected purity and denomination.

Designed for:

✓ Double Sovereigns (£2)
✓ Quintuple / Five Sovereigns (£5)

4 SIMPLE CHECKS

✓ DIAMETER — Place the coin inside its precision-sized diameter gauge. Multiple gauge levels assist with accurate checking of the coin's diameter.

✓ THICKNESS — Pass the coin through the corresponding precision thickness slot.

✓ WEIGHT — Weigh the coin and compare the result with the specification shown on the tester.

✓ MAGNET — Use the integrated strong, large-area magnet to screen for certain deep-filled or layered counterfeit coins, including examples made with a base-metal core and gold outer layer.

✓ Checking these characteristics together verifies whether the Sovereign matches the key physical specifications expected of a genuine coin. Because a coin's dimensions and weight are intrinsically linked to the density of the metal used, it would be extremely difficult for a counterfeit made from the wrong metal to pass this four-stage screening approach — making it a highly effective method of identifying suspect coins.

💡 DID YOU KNOW? Long before XRF machines existed, Sovereigns and other gold coins were screened using precision gauges and balances to check their size and weight against known standards. CoinVerify applies the same time-tested principles in a convenient modern format — using the relationship between a coin's dimensions, weight and metal density to help identify suspect coins.

WHY COINVERIFY?

Counterfeit gold coins can be remarkably convincing — including older real-gold jeweller's copies that can be difficult to identify by appearance alone.

CoinVerify allows you to check the physical characteristics that matter in just a few moments, making it a valuable first line of defence when buying, selling or collecting Double and Five Sovereigns.

🧪 HELP DEVELOP NEW COINVERIFY TOOLS

I’m continually developing new testers. If you own coins that could help with prototype testing, please get in touch — I may be able to send you a prototype to try.

Have an idea for a new CoinVerify tool? Let me know! If I develop your suggestion into a new addition to the range, you’ll receive a set of the resulting testers for just the cost of postage.

IMPORTANT: CoinVerify uses proven physical screening principles to check a coin's diameter, thickness, weight and magnetic response against its expected specifications, providing a strong indication that the coin matches its expected physical characteristics when all checks are passed. Where a coin fails a check, remains questionable, or where confirmation of metal composition/purity is required, specialist analysis such as XRF is recommended.
