Testing is performed using a Sigma Metalytics Original Precious Metal Verifier and the appropriate setting for the item being examined.

Non-Destructive & Convenient

Unlike traditional acid testing, Sigma verification is non-destructive and does not require scratching or damaging the surface of your coin.

The service can provide an additional level of confidence when checking a collection, assessing a recent purchase or screening multiple coins before further professional examination.

For additional peace of mind, I hold a current Enhanced DBS check and maintain professional registration in my other line of work. Your coins will be handled carefully and respectfully throughout the verification process.

Please Note

Sigma Metalytics testing is an extremely useful non-destructive precious-metal screening method, but it should not be represented as a guarantee of a coin's numismatic authenticity or provenance. The service assesses whether the tested metal responds consistently with the selected precious-metal composition within the capabilities of the equipment.

Where a result is unusual, inconclusive or further confirmation is required, additional professional examination such as XRF analysis may be recommended which can be significantly more money per coin (we do not offer this service).

Booking & Appointment Information

A minimum service charge of £30 applies to all appointments. Please email us with the type and quantity of coins you would like tested. Once your requirements have been confirmed, an invoice will be provided for any outstanding balance.

Travel within 10 miles of Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire is included free of charge. For appointments further afield, additional mileage will be charged at 25p per mile.

Appointments can be arranged at your home, place of work or a mutually agreed public location, depending on your preference.

Privacy & Discretion

We understand that precious-metal collections can be both valuable and personal. All appointments are therefore handled with the utmost discretion and respect for your privacy.

We do not maintain an inventory or record of the coins or bullion in your collection beyond information required for invoicing, requested test documentation and normal business records.
